Micah Babinski Micah is from the NW USA, and has been a regular attendee at PHSD, and was a part of the RMM band that won the Worlds in 2006. As well, Micah was the winner of the George Sherriff Memorial contest in 2006.

Callum Beaumont Callum is from Bo'ness, Scotland. He has won the MacGregor Memorial and Silver Medal at Oban.

James Beaumont James won the B grade strathspey and reel at the Northern Meeting, the Kansas City silver medal, and has been a prize winner in the Silver Medal in Scotland for the last three years.

Angela Beckett Angela started in the original RMM pipe band in early 1994 and won the World Juvenile Championship with them in 1999.  She continued on with RMM2 and played with them when they won the 2006 Worlds before moving up to SFU.

Alan Bevan Alan is one of Canada's top pipers, and has won many top prizes both in Canada and in Scotland. His career highlights Include winning the Silver Medal and 'A' Strathspey & Reel at Inverness; and the Jig events at both Oban and Inverness in the same year. In 2005 Alan won the MacCrimmon Cairn and the aggregate at the BC Pipers Annual Gathering, and was Grand Aggregate winner for the 2005 season. He is currently attending law school at UBC.

Bonnie Bevan Bonnie (McKain) is a veteran performer and one of the organizers of the SFU Piping Hot Summer Drummer program.

Andrew Bonar Andrew has won many solo prizes in Scotland and Canada, and has been a long-time member of the band. In 2001, he was selected to compete in the Lorient Festival, where he was among the prize winners. Andrew's music collection Boney Music is available in the SFU Online Store.

Danielle Millar Dani came to the band in 1995 from Saskatchewan, and is a four-time winner at the Worlds. She is a consistent prize winner in professional solo events.

Damien Burleigh Damien came to the band from the Abbotsford Police Pipe Band in the fall of 2000.

Jori Chisholm Jori is one of the world's busiest top pipers, winning prizes at home and in Scotland, including the first-ever U.S. Gold Medal, the Cameron-Gillies Challenge Recital (twice), the U.S. Prize Pipe, the B.C. Piper's Knock-Out, the 'A' Marches at Oban, and 3rd in theGold Medal at Oban. Jori lives in Seattle and is a full-time piper and piper teacher. His piping educational website is BagpipeLessons.com.

Blair Cooper Blair has been in the band for a few years, and he came from Manitoba via the City of Regina Pipe Band. Blair is currently studying law at UBC.

Andrew Douglas Andrew is a young Open player originally from Syracuse, New York. He is currently enrolled at SFU and living in Burnaby, and he has won numerous awards world wide, including a 3rd place at the Silver Medal in Oban. This is his fifth year with the band. .

Andrew J. Hayes An up-and-coming soloist and former member of the Oran Mor Pipe Band, Andrew moved to Bellingham from Albany, New York to play with the band.

Andrew Lee Andrew was the P/M of the World JuvenileChampion RMM Pipe Band, and has become a regular open prizewinner on the West Coast. He won the Kansas City Silver Medal in 2007.

Colin Lee Colin was a member of the World Champion RMM band, and won the B Piobaireachd at the London Scottish Society Competition in 2006.

Stuart Liddell Stuart has won the Gold Medal at both Inverness and Oban and top prizes at Glenfiddich. He is the 2005 Scottish Pipers Association Knockout winner. Stuart travels to band from his home in Inveraray, Scotland. Sttuart's outstanding solo recording, Inveroran, is available through the online store.

Neil MacPherson Neil played with the RMM Grade 3 band when they won the Worlds in 1999, and since that time he has been playing with his dad Angus in Maple Ridge. In 2004 Neil won the Silver Medal for piobaireachd at the 2004 Winter Storm event, and has also won prizes at Oban and Cowal in the B events.

Colin McWilliams Colin first joined the band in 1996, and rejoined in 2000 after spending two years in Glasgow and playing with the Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band from Northern Ireland.

Derek Milloy Derek came to the SFUPB from Minnesota in the late 1980s. He is one of the band's corner players.

Glen Mitchell Glen has been a member of the band since 1997. His biggest thrills so far have been winning the Worlds and playing in the Melbourne beer tent. Haifax was also a good time. Check out Glen's web site.

Will Nichols Will started piping in Alaska, and came down to attend PHSD over the years. He now lives in WA, and was a member of World Champion RMM bands. In 2007, Will won the BC Pipers Professional Knockout competition.

John Sutherland John came to the band via Prince Charles and RMM.

 

Drum Corps

Brittany Angeltvedt [tenor] Brittany started drumming in 2002, and won the World Juvenile Championship with RMM in 2003. Since then, she has played in the Grade 2 band, and was 2nd in the 2005 Gold Medal Tenor event at Winter Storm.

Derek Cooper Derek came to SFU this year from the Oran Mor Pipe Band.

Kristen Coulson A graduate of the RMM program, Kristen returned to SFU this year after playing with Alberta Caledonia in 2006.

Scott Fletcher Scotty is from Boston, and was amateur North American Champion at age of 13 and the EUSPBA pro champ 2001-2002. He won the World Championship Sash with the corps in 2004, and placed 3rd in the World Solo Drumming juvenile section 2.

James Laughlin James won the World Drum Corps Championships with SFU in 2004, and won the World Solos in the Juvenile division on two occasions. He now lives in New Zealand, teaching pipe band drumming full time at St. Andrews College and teaching workshops in New Zealand and Australia.

Ian Lawson Ian lives in Northern Ireland and came to SFU after leading the Bleary and District corps for the past 12 years.  He is a well-respected teacher and advisor to solo students and has a reputation for being able to achieve a great sound out of all drums.

Gordon Lee Gordon comes from Fife in Scotland, and has been a frequent prizewinner at the World Solos.

Katey MacPherson (tenor) Katey started tenor drumming in the fall of '99 with the grade 4 RMM pipe band, and then moved to the grade 3 RMM Juvenile band, and won the 2001 Worlds. Since then, she has been a member of the Maple Ridge Pipe Band under the leadership of her dad, Angus.

James Marshall (tenor) James moved to the SFU pipe band in 2004 from the RMM Grade 3 Band after winning the Juvenile World Championships with RMM3 in 2003.

Grant Maxwell Grant joined the SFUPB after winning the Worlds in the Juvenile Grade with the RMMPB in 1999 and 2001.

Steven McWhirter Steven has been playing with the band since 2002. He recently realized one of his dreams by winning the World Solo Drumming Championship. He is a frequent past winner of the All-Ireland Championships, and has also won the Kansas City Gold Medal Drumming event.

Duncan Millar Duncan joined the band in 1997 and has appeared in the final at the World Solo Drumming Championships on four occasions.

Michael O'Neil Mike travels from Carmel, California to play with the band. He won the Worlds in grade 2 in 2006 with RMM and in 2000 with the Prince Charles Pipe Band as well as obtaining the best bass section prize that year. He has won the Gold Medal Tenor event at Winter Storm in Kansas City twice.

Simone Reid (tenor) Simone has been with SFU for a few years now, having come through the RMM program originally.

Blake Schmidt (tenor) Blake Schmidt has played for three years with SFU. He is also a snare drummer, originally in the RMM band.

Kathryn Tawse (bass) Kathryn is the bass drummer for SFU, having previously played with Grade 3 RMM Pipe Band.
